Analogous colors are neighboring colors on the color wheel. You might think of them (if you are a musician) as "half steps" , or more logically "twelfth steps" on the twelve color wheel.
Analogous colors are slight hue changes from each other, and they always blend well together. Color palettes of these colors are very harmonious, and "safe", because they are subtle hues changes. Contrast this to complementary colors which are directly opposite, these color choices are pleasing to most observers.
When choosing paint colors for your house, you really should have the widest range paint paletter available to choose from. Using the standard paint color wheel, we can determine what colors will work with our primary color choice.
