Buff and Complementary Colors
Teal is simply a blue - green.  Teal can be more blue or more green.  Related colors are: Aqua and Turquoise.  Teal is made by mixing green with blue into a white base, it can be deepened as needed with a bit of black or gray.
Tones, Shades and Tints of Teal are made by adding white (or using less tint in a white base), or by strengthening the color by adding more tint. Adding gray (raw umber or similar tint) will also give you a deeper shade of Teal.  See Analogous Colors
The straight complement of teal is red/orange.   The split complements are orange, orange/yellow, red and purple/red and coral colors.  See Choosing a Complementary Paint Colors

Teal is a bright,  "beach" type color.  Teal with it's complements are the colors of the Miami Dolphins football team.  A real good color for a bathroom or bedroom, or kid's bedroom.  On the exterior, teal makes for a good accent color for a front door or garage door, or even as a color for shutters.  In warm climates, teal with it's complements works well for a colorful color scheme on a stucco home.
Located on the color wheel between blue and green. This tint blend is then added into a white base to achieve a teal color.
