Sometimes it is nice to break up the monotony for a single color scheme, you don’t need to paint an entire room in order to do this. You can simply paint an accent color on a wall or accent with wallpaper or a painting technique to add spice and interest to a room.
My favorite tape to use for masking off clean lines is 3M’s #2080 blue masking tape. This tape is an easy release, low tack tape that will prevent paint bleeding underneath it because of it’s smoothness. Used by faux finishers and mural painters, it will give you a good clean line when masking off the adjacent walls and ceiling.
Tips: Burnish the tape down with a piece of cardboard or a pliable piece of plastic, or something similar to ensure good contact with the surface. When you are finished painting the wall, remove the tape immediately to prevent any tape removal problems in terms of ripping the paint film as you pull the tape off. If you pull the tape off while the paint is wet, you will not have any removal problems.
Accenting a Wall with Paint
The easiest and cheapest way to decorate a room, is to accent one (or two) wall(s) with a different paint color.
A single wall can be painted to liven up a room by masking off the adjacent walls and ceiling and painting the wall in a deep tone or other accent color.
Accent Colors
An accent color can be a bright color, bold color or just a deeper color of what is already on the walls in the room. Many will use a deep tone color as an accent wall color, where they would not feel as comfortable using it in an entire room, as it would be "too much" for an entire room. If you are unsure about what color to use, try to pick out a color from upholstery in the room, or the curtains or from furnishings in the room.
Wallpaper
Hanging wallpaper on one wall will add both color and design (in the case of printed wallpaper). You can add just texture to the wall by hanging some Anaglypta paintable wall paper, or texture and color if you also paint the Anaglypta in an accent color..

You don’t have to hang wallpaper to get design and color, you can do a faux finish,
