Moving furniture is easy even if you are working alone with furniture slider disks.
The slider disks are made of a hard smooth plastic with a foam pad. The foam pad holds the piece of furniture in place on the slider, and the smooth hard base allows the furniture to be moved with surprising ease.
There are actually two types of these sliders, the standard
type made is made for moving furniture on carpet, and there is also a modified version made for moving furniture on hard floors. The hard floor version has a felt pad on the bottom side to prevent scratching of the floor. Be sure that the felt is clean before placing it under the piece of furniture. If there is anything lodged in the felt, it will actually cause scratching of the floor to occur. Brush off or vacuum the felt pad prior to using them on hard floors.
It is good to have several of the sliders so that you can leave them under the furniture until the end of the job. Once the painting is complete, pull your drop cloths up and vacuum, then slide the furniture back into place. To remove the sliders you lift (or tilt) the piece of furniture and using your foot, push (or kick) out the slider from under the furniture and then set it down.
I use the sliders all the time, and have no trouble whatsoever moving furniture by myself. I consider the old fashioned method of muscling the furniture around (which often requires an extra person to help lift the other end) as archaic now.
The sliders (along with the HEPA filter and the dustless sanding system) are probably the best and most useful inventions for interior painting to have materialized in the last ten years. I highly recommend them for interior painting.

How to use.
You really can move just about any piece of furniture by yourself as long as you can lift it (or tilt it) high enough to push the slider under the leg of the furniture with your foot. Simply lift and and guide the slider under the furniture with your foot and then drop it down onto the slider. Repeat for all four legs of the furniture.
Once the furniture is loaded onto the sliders, moving is not a great physical endeavor, simply "slide" the furniture to the center of the room or away from the wall so that you can access the wall for painting. Generally, for most painting you will slide everything to the center of the room.
